General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

When you first start getting your period it can be very unpredictable. It may be heavy or light and not follow a pattern. It can take a while before it becomes regular. What you are describing doesn't sound like something dangerous. I still would recommend seeing your doctor about this just so you can ask questions and maybe even talk about things that can make your periods easier to deal with. You shouldn't need any shots or even an exam so there is nothing to be afraid of. Hang in there.
