What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding?

My period is prolonged.... usually when I have a break in between periods...I now find myself bleeding VERY lightly.. When I think that I am done, I wake up feeling very wet/slippery ... Then I put in a regular (light flow tampon) and when I remove it, I see a very pale pink color. Time passes and the next thing I know, I am beginning my regular cycle. This has been going on for 6 months. I am 39. I have had ovarian cysts in the past (removed alongside my appendix 1997 and in 2017 I had my gallbladder removed. No complications).

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the prolonged menstrual bleed is due to altered hormonal homeostasis giving endothelial changes over the uterine wall.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
