Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Cycle After Taking Rigevidon?
I started taking Rigevidon 14 days ago so I could ensure I got my period before my holiday. However, I ve been bleeding non stop for the entire 14 days with no sign of stopping. I am getting severely distressed now. If I stop taking the pill after 7 days and do not start it again. Will that reduce the chances of getting a continuous bleed again?
In order to postpone periods, you can use drugs like Norethisterone rather than a combined oral contraceptive. Combined pills are used mainly to prevent pregnancy and reduce heavy bleeding. Missing the pill or taking the pills irregularly can cause hormonal imbalance leading to irregular periods. After stopping the drug, your cycles will regularize in the next few months.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
