What Causes Prolonged Periods?

Hello,

I found out that I had PCOS about 6 years ago. I have maybe 1 to 2 periods a year. I had a normal period in April and have been bleeding ever since. The blood changes from dark brown and then in May it turned back to the bright red like I was having a reular period. I'm concerned because bleeding has been consistent for 2 months whether red or brown. SHould I be concerned or is this my bodies way of cleaning it self out. I have been in a monogomous relations for 12 years and everything was fine during my last pap smear.
