What Causes Prolonged Popping In Ears Post Exposure To Water?

Hello, so last summer in august i went on vacation and during that time water got into my ears. I was leaving the next day on a plane and my ears started to pop, so much that it hurt. After that the pain went away after a couple of months, although my ears never stopped popping. What is happening?

I really appreciate your concern, such ear condition could be due to fungal infection and this can be treated with antifungal ear drops on tentative basis but clinical examination would be better if being done before using the drops, hope this information may helps, take care and have a nice day.
