What Causes Prolonged Spotting While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi I have been on the pill for about 6 months about 1 month ago I stopped taking it as I didn t get a script and I waited 1 month until I got my period to start talking it again, I didn t take the sugar pills I went straight to the other ones! Now that I started the pill again while on my period, my period went brown and stopped after 3 days but is still spotting brown, how do I make it stop or do I just wait until my 7 days of my period is up?
