What Causes Prolonged Swelling, Tightness And Pain In Knee Cap After Falling?

My R knee is swollen below the kneecap, but not to bad. The longer I'm on it the more it hurts. I fell on about 4 months ago, but it healed fine. It feels tight and makes my whole leg feel tight and achey. I don't go to see an ortho until mid feb. What can I do for now? I've tried several NSAIDS with no relief.
