What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Taking I-pill?
Hi Doctor, I am 26 years old girl, I had unprotected sexual intercourse with my partner on 28th October, after which I took an iPill tablet within next two-three hours, I started bleeding after some days(after around 8-10 days, which I guess was due to iPill). On 8th December, my periods started, and today it is 17th December but still periods are going on. From last three days the blood color is dark black, can you please let me know if this is a matter to worry ? Thanks.
Prolonged vaginal bleeding could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by the I-pill. You had withdrawal bleeding that occurred 8 to 10 days after you took it. The I-Pill may change your next menstrual periods, it may occur early or get delayed or you may have irregular vaginal bleeding as well. Since you seem to have prolonged vaginal bleeding you are advised to consult a gynecologist for further evaluation and drugs like Tranexamic acid may be prescribed to prevent the bleeding.
Hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
