What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding And Abdominal Pain Despite Taking Contraceptives?
Im on birth control and take it pretty consisantly if i miss a day i double up the next. This month while on the pills i have started bleeding 6 days before my period pills and it started out like spotting then progressed to being worse then lighted up again. This began approximately 10 days ago. Since this bleeding ive stopped taking my pills. Today i started experiencing sharp pains in my lower stomach utearus area. I have not taken a pregnancy test yet. But there is a chance of it. Suggestions?
There are not chances of pregnancy, but the prolonged vaginal bleed and abdomen pain are in concern with hormone level irregularity as you are taking double dose when you are skipping the medicine. Should opt for alternate method of contraception as IUD or condoms to get out of this hassle. Kindly discuss the pros and cons of the same with your OBGYN during next scheduled visit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
