What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding And Excessive Weight Gain?

i have been bleeding for 3 months. This happened in the past and the dr put me on meds to stop my menstraul bleeding. It stopped and I gained 30lbs from the meds. I stopped taking them. After I stopped taking the meds I started bleeding again. It has been 3 months now that I have been bleeding, but my pad lately is soiled in the area of my clitorous. Why would this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Such excessive bleeding over a prolonged period is due to functional uterine hemorrhage (mostly due to hormonal imbalance) and such condition tends to be controlled with 3 cyclical courses of hormonal pills. No response with pills needs a minor surgery D&C.

Though some hormonal pills tend to cause weight gain. It's needful to exclude other condition like PCOS causing excessive bleeding and weight gain need to be excluded. It would be evident in USG pelvis scanning. Please consult a gynecologist for specific management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
