What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding Upon Withdrawal From Contraceptive Pills?

Hello, and thank you for your time. The question I have is, when should I expect my cycle to go off??? it s been on for 2 weeks, it s not heavy, but it is very annoying. I stopped taking birth control pills approximately 2 months ago. And this is my first cycle after stopping the pill. Thanks

Hello,

When you take contraceptive pills, you are taking hormones and when you stop the pills then there is a sudden drop in hormone levels.

And he drop in hormones triggers the release of some blood and mucus from the lining of the uterus out through the vagina.

The periods may be irregular sometimes so don't worry. If you think your periods are prolonged and heavy, please consult your gynec for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
