What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding While On Depo?
Hi, so I am on the birth control depo and I have been bleeding for almost 5 months now and I asked my doctor and they say that it’s normal when you are on depo. But I need a second opinion because it just doesn’t seem right to have a period longer then three months.
Any birth contraceptive can cause irregular bleeding in the initial 2 to 3 months. If the bleeding irregularity continues even after 3 months, it needs to be evaluated. I feel you need to consult another Gynecologist for clinical evaluation. You may require some investigations like measurement of certain hormones to know what could be the cause. Accordingly, it needs to be managed.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
