What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding While On Birth Control?

I ve been experiencing bleeding for about a month now, some times it will be heavy then light and i will bleed on and off during the days, there has been some dark and light coloring to it. Do you know what it might be ,and ive been on birth control for a few years now I started taking birth control because my periods were so heavy id go through a maxi pad and my periods were very painful.

I really appreciate your concern if you are on some hormone medicine before so such irregular menses is very common then, better to stop this medicine and wait for some time it will be fine soon, have bed rest as long as it is possible, if you are above 30 years then this could be menopause, hope this information helps, take care.
