What Causes Prominent Vein Across The Chest Of A Child?

My 6 year old grandson (caucasian) has a very visible blue colored vein that runs all the way across his chest halfway between his nipples and his neck. It does not stick out nor does it look varicose. It pretty much is a straight line. It looks like a normal vein that I have in my arm/wrist, but the blue vein is very noticable.

Is this a problem?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Veins are present superficially & can be easily noticable in very fair individuals & also very lean childs. If this is the case with your grandson then you need not to worry.

Also i want to ask something. Does he easily get tired after playing or physical activity?
If your child plays as other children of same age group & doesn't get tired easily, then you need not to worry. Else consult a pedatrician

hope this information helps
