What Causes Prominent Vein In The Calf Post Self Injury?

Hello I just wanted to ask about veins, I just jumped off my sons bed & bumped my calf and all of a sudden my vein popped up & is very painful but I also remember a while back I hit my hand & my vein also popped up & was very painful the only difference now is that the vein is big about the size of a quarter. What do you think this could be??

Trauma to the veins can result in swelling, this is part of the body's inflammatory response.

You should consider the application of a cold compress to the area as well as the use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen.

You can monitor for now.
