What Causes Prominent Veins Around Surgical Stitches In The Underarm?

I had an infected cyst surgically removed from my underarm last week. In place of stitches, the doctor put in packing, which I was instructed to remove (very painfully) the next day. I now have 2 bulging veins near the area. My arm feels tight and warm. I m 50 and in otherwise good health. My surgeon can t see me until Friday and I m worried.

Hi,

The tight and warm feeling on your arm is due to painfully removed packing on the stitches.

I advise applying cold compresses locally. If still tight or the bulging veins will get worse, should go to ER.

Otherwise, wait until Friday's appointment with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
