What Causes Puffy Face And Weight Gain While On Thyroid Medication?

my 30 yr old daughter has been on thyroid meds (generic Synthroid) for at least 7 yrs. Every year she went back they kept upping her script. Now for the last year she has been gaining weight, her face is puffy, her skin and hair look diff. but her Dr. says her thyroid meds are were they should be. I have been reading about the prob. with the general test run for thyroid and that they dont test for T3 and that dessicated thyroid meds are better because they address the low T3. What do you recommend?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

She is suffering from hypothyroidism. Puffy face, weight gain, hair loss all are due to hypothyroidism. She need to increase the dosage of synthroid. Go for T3, T4 and TSH testing and then set the dosage of synthroid accordingly.
It is prescription based medicine so consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
