Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Purple Discoloration Of Palm And Cold Fingers?
My index finger is cold to the touch. It is also starting to turn purple at the tip on the palm side. It is the only digit on my left hand that is cold. the further down the finger you touch the colder it is. The finger is not numb nor is it painful.
Your symptoms could be due to Raynaud's Phenomena. It is an exaggerated vascular response to cold temperature which leads to an abnormal constriction of cutaneous blood vessels leading to localized decreased blood flow to extremities. I would suggest you go and consult your physician so that you can be investigated as it may be secondary to certain diseases like scleroderma or CREST. In the mean time you can avoid cold temperatures and keep extrimities warm by wearing gloves and other measures.
Hope it helps.
Regards Dr Manish Jha
