What Causes Pus-filled Giant Bump On Labia Majora?
I had a boil on my labia that popped and now has turned into what looks like a hole ! I've had ingrown hairs or whatever u call it on and off for years but it seems like more keep comming but they never cometly go away?? They just keep filling back up !! Is this because I have MRSA??
The big abscess on the labia which subsides on & off, particularly at the time of menstruation and then fills again is mostly what is known s Bartholin's abscess. Under the Labia majora, there are glands, one on each side called as Bartholin's glands. They usually get infected due to some sexually transmitted infection, most commonly gonorrhoea. During menstruation, they rupture but again their mouth closes and they get filled with the pus. Only antibiotics do not help in such cases. The abscesses have to be opened and the edges are everted and sutured to the sides (marsupialization) to prevent closure of the abscess mouth. Thus it keeps draining. It is packed and gradually the pack is removed to allow healing from the base lest the mouth will close and the abscess may recur again in the base. I hope you have got the answer.
