What Causes Pus Filled Sores Along The Hairline And Tender Bruises On The Scalp?

Hi i have pus filled pimple like sores along my hairline, and small bruises on my scalp that are tender to the touch, a pressure headache that intensifies when i move around to often. I am concerned as to who i should see and what could be causing this problem. I have had cellulitis in the past could this at all be related?

Hi,

Pus filled sores along hairline may be caused by bacterial and fungal infection in the hair roots or just due to overproduction of oil in the follicular glands which may later get infected. I will suggest you to see the doctor for examination and if need be, a dermatologist. In the meantime, I will suggest you to try the following:

- Wash your hair and scalp with a shampoo at least three times in a week

- Wash your hair/scalp with an anti-septic solution like cyteal daily

If your doctor feels a bacteria or fungal infection may be the cause, antibiotics or antifungal agents may be prescribed.

Hope this will help. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wish you good health!

Regards,
Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
