What Causes Pus Pockets In My Left Tonsil, With No Other Symptoms?

I slept with the window open last night, I drank some red wine, and chewed tobacco as well. I have what seems to be puss pockets only on my left tonsil. I feel great, not hungover, no fever, not tired. Question, give it a day or two of rest before I start to freak out that it is throat cancer or something?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Tonsils are lymphoid tissues which has the primary function to fight infection.
Pus filling in tonsil indicates that you could be having inflammation of throat which is being fought by tonsils. Generally such a thing does not manifest and does not show any symptoms. Many a times it is normal and tonsils would look normal after sometime as the inflammation subsides.
Do not mistake it for throat cancer.
In case even if it manifests in the form of sore throat or difficulty in swallowing, you can get relieved from it by doing salt water gargling, use of decongestant medications and medicated lozenges.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
