What Causes "pins And Needles" Sensation In Legs?

my grandmother suffered from pins and needles in her legs all of last night from mid calf down it has started to ease now but what could it be? she has a pacemaker and is just out of hospital after suffering from a black out possibly to do with her pacemaker!
