What Causes Raise In BP Levels And Headache?

I m 39. 124 pounds. Blood pressure has been running around 130/88 or maybe a little higher. Have been having bad headaches. But not every time bp is up. Just tightness sometimes or in the top of head. Could be stress as I ve had headaches with stress before. Is this a concern.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

1. Your systolic blood pressure is slightly elevated but not worrisome.

I always advise my patients with the same problems as you to measure the blood pressure (bp) for 1 weeks to see the changes.

After evaluating the figures, we can discuss if you need further treatment.

2. For the moment, I can only advise to try to avoid or control those factors that can cause such increase in bp:
- limit salt intake
- avoid caffeinated drinks
- avoid fatty/oily/processed/ high calories foods
- try to control stress: by eating healthy, being more physically active and take chamomile/valeriana supplement/tea.

All the best!
