What Causes Raise In Heart Rate?

Hi, I was recently checking my heart sounds and I noticed that my heart would speed up randomly, then returned to normal. This happened every time I checked it. My pulse at rest was about 80 and my blood pressure is naturally pretty low (about 100/55). I have no chest pains or shortness of breath but I was just wondering what this could be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern but increased heart rate can also occur if you take a deep breath while counting your heart rate.
You have not mentioned your peak heart rate and frequency of happening this.
Racing irregular heart may be due to reasons like anxiety, hyperthyroidism, hypertension or arrhythmia of heart.
In your case, I don't feel you have any of these conditions if you have just observed slightly increased heart rate as it may be due to inspiration or anxiety.
Hope this will be helpful.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
I find this answer helpful
