What Causes Raised Small Red Itchy Welts On The Lower Leg?
lower left leg is red, warm to touch, shiny, has small raised welts in places, mostly on the back, could possibly be red streaks going up just below my knee- hard to tell because the itching has made me scratch, but that s painful should i go to emergency room?
Hello! I have been through your question. Related your concern I think this is erysipelas. Erysipelas is a bacterial infection in the upper layer of the skin caused by streptococcus. When the strept enter in the skin because of scratch or sores the infection results in large, raised red patches on the skin, shiny and warm in touch ( same as you have). What suggest you is doing a physical examination by an Infectious disease specialist to define better the diagnosis and to start antibiotic( (amoxicillin 500mg 3X1 tb or ampicillin if you aren't allergic). I hope my answer help you. I wish you a quick recovery.
