Hi, My little boy is 4 he had a random bruise pop up on his chest about 5 or 6 days ago. The isnt going away and has actually gotten bigger and darker. Today we noticed that it has a white center and a hard know thats under the skin in the center it dosent seem to hurt him at all when touched and it feels sort of like a tiny rock. any suggestions on what it could be. we are taking him to his peed in the morning but i just dont like waiting that long for an answer
It is not uncommon in children to get blunt injuries whilst playing. Most blunt traumas does not show any signs right after injury, except mild tenderness. However, after few hours to days the injured area start to show-up color changes. In first few hours of injury the area is pale pink, later it changes to brownish-purple and may expand in size overtime. The hard area may be the point of injury. A plain chest x-ray and clinical examination will help clear any concerns of any internal injury or infection.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
