What Causes Rapid Fluttering In Heart Along With Light Headedness?

While sitting still, occassionally my heart will flutter rapidly. Sometimes if I take a few deep breaths it will go back to normal. Sometimes a few deep breaths just make me a little light headed and the rapid flutter continues for about a minute. I ve noticed this happening more often and lasting a little longer than it has in the years before. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Heart palpitations (sensation of heart beat or irregular heart beat) may be due to heart related causes or other causes such as thyroid disease, anemia, or anxiety.

To determine the cause, you may want to consider an assessment by your doctor.
This would include history , examination and investigations

Investigations would include a complete blood count( checking for the anemia) and thyroid function tests as well as an ECG.
The ECG would look at the rate and rhythm of the heart.

I hope this helps
