What Causes Rapid Heart Rate,chest Tightness And Shortness Of Breath?

I am a 42 yr old female, only have 1/10 th of a percent thyroid, I take synthroid and zoloft and have been on synthroid for approximate 22 yrs. I am now just in the past month experiencing shortness of breath, tightness in chest, dizziness, and increased pulse rate. What is happening to me?

Hi,

I would explain that your symptoms could be related to anxiety or thyroid hormone imbalance.

For this reason, I would recommend first checking thyroid hormone levels in order to make the proper adjustments to Synthroid dose.

I would also recommend performing a routine check up including:
- complete blood count for anemia
- a resting ECG
- a chest X-ray study
- blood electrolytes.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.
