What Causes Rapid Heartbeat And Body Aches?

Hi, I have been having rapid heartbeats and pain like bruising in the left side of my chest. I was in the hospital a couple days ago because of a rapid heartbeat and my left hand turning blue. The doctors never gave me an answer to why this could be. I got this faster heartbeat after eating a sub from subway today and I also have aches in my whole body

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to cardiac arrhythmia.

A possible cardiac ischemia can not be excluded.

How old are you? What is your past medical history?

I recommend consulting with your GP for a careful physical examination and some tests :

-resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound
-chest X ray study
-blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate, thyroid hormone levels, cardiac enzymes, blood electrolytes, kidney and liver function tests, etc).

A treadmill test or a stress echo , coupled with an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring are necessary to examine better your cardiac function.

I advise you to discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned tests.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes!

Dr. Iliri
