What Causes Rash Followed By Itching In Penis?
my boyfriend (56 years old) recently swam in the Gulf of Mexico and is now experiencing itching inside his penis. This itching is not related to urinating meaning it does not increase nor decrease during. He does have a rash in the scrotum area but does not believe the two are related because the rash occurred several days before the itching and believes the rash is caused by heat (no air conditioning in extreme heat and polyester work uniform). Your opinion, please!

After swimming in Mexican gulf your bf is experiencing itching. The rash and itching are the body's allergic reaction to parasites in the skin. He may be experiencing swimmers itch. He is suggested not to touch it or to scratch. It is advised to towel yourself dry right after swimming or wading. Reason: Wipe off parasites before they get under the skin. Now, he should take care of his hygiene. Should take regular baths and after toweling apply ointment hydrocortisone in the area affected.
He can take non sedating antihistamines for relieve. Wear soft cotton clothes, avoid sex for a few days. It should get reduced. If it causes fever, he can take acetaminophen, one SOS when needed. But should get clinically examined by a GP to detect bacterial / fungal infection or contact dermatitis. The treating doctor may suggest STD tests to stay on the safer side.
