What Causes Rashes In The Arms And Groin?

Hi, can I answer your health question? Please type your Hi i have had a rash on my arms and groin area for about 7 months now. Im not too sure what it is, it looks like hives but it Doesn t really itch. Its on my back and it is usually white spots, but when i sweat or work outside (which is my job) they turn red as if irritated and itch a little more often, but not much . Maybe when you email me back i can send you a photo of the rash on my arms. I usually use calamine lotion on my groin and that gets rid of it. Not my arms. Email me soon. here...

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having fungal infection called as tinea corporis. My treatment advice is -

1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral Fluconazole , Itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist. If problem persists then consult with detailed history and photographs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
