What Causes Rashes In The Groin Area?

Hi, I think I have contact dermatitis on my genital area I am female. Almost two weeks ago I had sex and my partner foolishly used shower gel as a lubricant without me knowing. On impact it burned and since then I have been experiencing itching, pain, dryness and blisters on the area which have now disappeared. I have eczema and sensitive skin. At first I thought it was an STI and I am waiting for an appointment at my local clinic just to be sure. I have been prescribed betnovate for my eczema and I have an emollient I was just wondering if it is safe to put either of these on the affected area or should I visit my GP as the itching is becoming unbearable.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to contact dermatitis.

I suggest using Cetirizine to relieve the itching.

I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
