Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
There are large round rings on my inner thighs that itch a lot especially at night. I am pretty sure it is jock itch. How to get rid of it completely and how long will it take? Will dettol help in curing it? I live in a hostel, so what might be the possible causes for it and what precautions should i take?
You can apply Mupirocin ointment after cleaning & drying the area affected. Antifungal creams & sprays are effective. You can take non-sedating antihistamines, Levocetirizine, once daily for 5-7 days.
Oral Fluconazole is also effective. Take medications under your PCP. Get physically examined to rule out STD.
Your doctor will evaluate on physical examination, medical history & symptoms. In the meantime avoid sex, stay away from addictions if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
