Woke up with a rash a few days ago. One spot on chest, 3 spots on stomach and one on leg. Kind of square shaped when the started, pretty red, no itching at all, the next day I woke up with one more on the side of my body and another on my arm, the original ones are getting lighter but the new ones are red, today I woke up with a red nose and was not outside for the last few days and can tell it is part of the rash and that is kind of sore if I scratch it by accident. Any ideas?
Hi. As per your case history you are having a condition called as pityriasis rosea. My treatment advice is - 1. It is a self limiting disease. It will be cured on its own in 6 weeks. All you need is supportive treatment. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 3. Avoid taking cold and sweet foods as any upper respiratory infection can exacerbate the condition. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, antihistamines taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
