What Causes Rashes On Chest And Thighs After Having Unprotected Oral Sex?

Hi Doctor, I had a protected vaginal sex but during which my condom broke and i stopped immediately and changed my condom. But I had an unprotected oral sex. I got tested after 3 weeks for HIV spot test which came non reactive. 4th week after the exposure I developed few acne like rashes on chest and small brown like rashes on inner thighs. I am terrified now and not able to concentrate on work. Could you please advise me on what to do next?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

The test that you took at 3 weeks (spot test) is an antibody based test.
Three weeks is too soon for this test because in most of the infected individuals antibodies appear by 4 weeks and therefore this test is recommended only after 4 weeks.
Therefore, I would suggest you to test again at 4 weeks, with a P24 Ag/Ab test (HIV DUO test). This result would be taken as more reliable indicator of your HIV status.
Regarding the rashes on thighs, they are most likely fungal in origin. I suggest you to try an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotriamzole 1% cream, twice daily.
Acne can affect torso as well as the face as both these areas are rich in sebaceous glands.
Topical treatment for acne with benzoyl peroxide gel or body wash is usually effective for acne on torso.
A course of an Oral antibiotic e.g doxycycline or azithromycin, may also be required if your acne is inflammatory i.e red, painful and pustular.

Regards
