What Causes Rashes On The Arm Pits, Legs And Chest?

Over the last 2 days I have developed a minor skin rash (red lines) over selected body sections - arm pits, legs, chest, etc. It may be a result of food I ate or other causal factors,,,walking outside in bushes, exposure to young (less that 1 year old.) infants with skin conditions, etc. If it lasts one day more, I will go to my family physician. It is not itchy and I have been taking over the counter Benydril to help 2 or 3 times a day...with no major decrease in symptoms. Can you help with a possible diagnosis and treatment? I am not willing to pay for this service on line...I have a family physician.

Hi,

If it is appearing like red lines and also you go out into bushes then it can be probably due to mite infestation or scabies. However, it can also be an allergic reaction but explanation looks like scabies.

However, you should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and if needed a blood test can be done for confirmation. For now, you can apply Calamine lotion and continue taking Benadryl. In case if scabies is diagnosed then you can be advised Ivermectin and Permethrin lotion.
