Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rashes On The Arms Post Intake Of Concerta?
Son started taking Concetta over a week ago. 5 days ago started with a rash on his arm that then the next day also appeared on his leg. Has now spread to the other leg but not the trunk of the body. Saw a doc Friday. She said poison ivy or something like it. Gave us a steroid cream. Used it from 2 days. Rash still looks awful. Could it be the Concetta?
Hi Thanks for pposting on HCM Concerta is a central nervous system stimulant that may be use for a wide variety of medical problems including attention deficit. It may have as side effect skin rashes. It is possible the rashes could be due to the drug.I will however suggest you see your prescribing Doctor for evaluation.Depending on why he prescribed the drug, he may change to a different drug after evaluating the risk and the benefits. Poison ivy is another possibility but less likely if no known allergy. Hope my answer will help you Regards
