What Causes Rashes On The Arms While On Sulfamethoxazole?

Hello, My husband has been taking Sulfamethoxazole for about 8 days. He is 71 years old. He has, what looks like, flea bites all under his arms, arm pits and a couple on his arms. Maybe a total of 40 bytes . We don t think we have fleas in the house, but he does lots of yard work. I got to thinking that maybe it s a rash rather than bites. I went online to see if i could see a picture of what a rash from the medicine would look like. Can i get a picture somehow? thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be due to allergic eruption. You can take antihistamines like Pheniramine for symptomatic relief.

Generally, it will settle by itself in couple of days. If symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
