What Causes Rashes On The Body After Injecting Iron Sorbitex And Folic Acid?
My wife has got reaction during IV injections of iron sorbitexand folic acid injection in 100ml of NS .....rashes over body ....BP has down...maintained by giving dexona and avil injection .....now she is fine .....but the question is weather this reaction will effect on foetus or what ....and what theavil tab effect on foetus
* As per my surgical experience, the rashes on her body were in concern with drug reaction to intravenous preparation of the iron and will be cured.
* The current medication as advil, dexona and else will not harm the fetus as well as this reaction also will not affect fetus once it has been under control very well.
However, it is advisable to get a fetal ultrasound done for basic evaluation of current heart rate and rest of the activities to be double sure and avoid any hassle which may have been happened via disturbances in the micro circulation of the placenta via hypotension.
* She must avoid further doses of iron intravenous preparations for sure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
