Hi , last couple of days had a severe back pain, took ibuprofen, no relief. later took two tabs of Aleve, about 12 hours later, have developed a non-itchy rash spots on right chest, right armpit and right back. Ceased taking Aleve, which was quite old. I m 55 yrs old, fit and feel fine. No prior allergic reaction and no other side effects. Some sites say call dr asap. Others, are less alarmist. Just asking about this
This is due to allergic reaction to Aleve (naproxen). Allergies occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign body. Foreign body may medicine like Aleve. The severity of allergies varies from person to person and can range from minor rash to anaphylaxis — a potentially life-threatening emergency. Advice 1. Stop Aleve immediately. Do not take it future also. Always keep a card in your pocket mentioning that you have allergy to Aleve (naproxen) 2. Levocetirizine 5 mg – 1 tablet once daily for 5 days 3. You can take nimesulide or tramadol or ibuprofen as painkiller 4. Do not scratch the rashes as it will caused skin damage and infection 5. You can apply calamine lotion – three times daily – will provide soothing effect I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thank
