What Causes Rashes On The Body While Having Lyme Disease?

My girlfriend may have lime disease she is getting rashes on her body at first about 4 weeks ago she had a fever and felt weak but she never developed a rash with the characteristic target shape. She has seen a doctor but he does not believe it to be lime disease. Maybe it is something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Skin rash can be caused by several conditions. If Lyme disease is suspected blood tests can be performed as these come out positive after a few weeks of contracting Lyme disease.

Also, hives due to an allergic reaction is a possible cause of a widespread rash. A viral infection such as chickenpox or others may cause a rash all over the body as well.

It is important that your girlfriend does a visit with her doctor to determine the cause of the rash and the needed management. Seeing the rash is very important in diagnosing its cause.

I hope this is helpful. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
