What Causes Rashes On The Body While On Spironolactone And Losartan?
Hello, Dr. everyday around 3:00 in the afternoon I start breaking out in hives. I have a pacemaker defibrallator implanted and I take spironolectone, losartin potassium, and 1 mg of estradiol in the morning with breakfast. I can take benadryl which puts me into a deep sleep and it goes away, but so does half my day. Any ideas?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, your current skin condition can be caused by both losartan and spironolactone however, losartan is more notorious so stopping that can be considered only after consulting your cardiologist and may be replaced with another group of medicine called beta blockers. Meanwhile benadryl can be continued.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
