What Causes Rashes On The Body?

My son who is almost 15 has developed hives and we took him to get a blood test and it showed he has food allergies to certain foods soy peanuts wheat milk egg whites and environmental trees. Could it be he is going through puberty? The hives come and go every day for the last month and a half. They are not bothersome just look bad then disappear

Hi,

Yes, teenagers can develop allergies which are not present in early childhood. This is because of shifting immune system in teenage. Since he is allergic to certain food items better to avoid them in the diet.

Once he omits all those foods, he won't develop any rash or hives. You can also give him a combination of montelukast (anti-allergic) and fexofenadine (antihistamine). Don't worry, he will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
