What Causes Rashes On The Chest After Sunlight Exposure?

I started taking doxyclcl Hyc for rosacea about 10 days ago. I now have a rash/hives on my chest. I was recently at the beach, although I used suncreen, wore a long sleeves and a big hat. the medication says to avoid porloged exposure to direct sunlight. I was outside but tried to be a protective as possible. Is rsh due to this exposure? Do I continue the medication?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The use of doxycyclin is associated with increased photosensitivity. In other words, your skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight than in other cases where doxycyclin is not used.

I highly recommend not to expose to sunlight until you finish the whole treatment although maximum protection is carried out.

Hope this helps.
