What Causes Rashes On The Right Forearm?

Hi, my name is Mary. My adult son has a pretty bad road rash on his right forearm from crashing his motorcycle last Saturday. He has no medical insurance. He has been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and neosporin and not bandaging it. I have made a medical appointmen for next week. What do I use for now to clean and bandage the open wound?

Hi.
As per your case history of traumatic rash, my treatment advice is -
1. Clean the wound with water and betadine solution.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
