What Causes Rashes Throughout The Body?

Thanks, my son is 18 yrs old. On Jan 4, 2014, he developed some rashes throughout the body. We had to admit him to a hospital for one day because the rashes were not subsiding despite medications. Doctors have told us that he has Urticaria. WE wanted to understand, about the cure and precautions so that we can avoid getting this allergy again as he would be going to a hostel soon. Please advise.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of urticaria, my treatment advice is -
1. Urticaria is caused mainly by food allergy, drug allergy or any body infection like cough, abdominal infection or urinary infection.
2. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors and dairy products.
3. Don't take any medication without doctors advice.
4. Start an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily. It can be gradually tapered as per improvement.

If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Thanks.
