What Causes Raw Feeling In Chest, abdomen And Both Lateral Sides?

Hi, My husband has a dry nonproductive cough accompanied by a fever over the past 3 days. That is not what is concerning me. However what is concerning me is that he is reporting that the skin on chest, abdomen, and both lateral sides he says feel raw like. Almost as if the nerves of the skin is exposed. Any idea?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) is more likely.
Viral infection can cause skin hypersensitivity and similar burning sensations in skin.
Usually these symptoms are self limiting.
So tell him to drink plenty of fluids orally.
Do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day. Apply ice packs on affected skin areas.
Take levocetrizine tablet twice daily.
Don't worry, he will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
