Hello,

The following are few probable causes of rectal bleeding:
1) Anal fissure: this occurs with severe pain during and after passing stool.
2) Hemorrhoids: pile mass protrudes from anus. Bleeding is common.
3) Rectal polyps
4) Inflammatory bowel disease
5) Irritable bowel syndrome
6) Rectal cancer: here usually painless bleeding occurs

Only with thorough clinical examination, we can come to a diagnosis and initiate treatment. You can consult a gastroenterology surgeon for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
