What Causes Rectal Pain And Bleeding During Bowel Movement In A Child?
my 9 month old has had problems with pooping since age 4 months when she was transitioned from breast milk to formula . not constipated but in real pain when pooping now she has blood in her poop. Emr doctors want to say constipation but she has no problem going its just painful for her when she does go and now the new symptom is the blood in her stool 4th bloody diaper since saturday
I have gone through your question and understand your concern. In my view, the child is passing hard stools which can produce tears at the anal area causing pain and frank bleeding. I would suggest you to get your child examined by a pediatric specialist.
In the meantime, try to follow the Sitz bath method using lukewarm water and a few drops of betadine solution twice a day. Sometimes, formula milks can be the cause and changing the brand helps too. In addition, you can give weaning food like sweet potato or cooked whole oats as these food contain good amount of fiber they will add bulk and helps in smooth passage of stool.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef,
