What Causes Recurrent BPPV?

Hello Dr. Rynne. My mother is 78 years ol and has had 2 episodes of positional presyncope. She had a negative Ct scan and was referred to an ENT who told her it was benign positional vertigo. It just happened again today and it is when she lies back at a shampoo bowl. Should she go to ER or can she wait until Monday to follow up with her doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms of your mother seem to be related to benign paroxismal vertigo.
I suggest giving her Meclizine hydrochloride three times a day.
I also suggest to avoid salt in the diet.
If the symptoms continue, I suggest to see an ENT specialist.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
